As we all know —and suffer—, most of anime related games (including eroges) are proprietary software, and they're typically released for micro$oft windoze. Freedom related issues aside, except from amateur games with poor lineart, it's a rarity to see anime games developed for GNU. All hope is not lost, however. If you have fairly good hardware, you might get these games running via emulators such as Wine, DOSBox, DOSEMU. This page is intended to gather a list of how well anime games are working under these emulators.

And just in case: no, we don't have download links for these games, nor we do want them on this wiki. If the game is freely available, you can get it from their website, which is provided for —almost— each game.

When adding a new game to this list, you need to provide following information for the game.

  • A game_info entry, consists of:
    • A JPEG image of the game (cover, box, etc). Name the image file as game's name.
    • Developer(s)
    • Publisher(s)
    • Genre
    • Production year
    • License
    • URL for game/producer website
  • A emulator_test_info entry for each emulator (and game/emulator version), consists of:
    • Host OS
    • Version of the emulator
    • Version of the game (if no other versions exists, you can skip this one)
    • Installation (Including all extra stuff you did to get it ready for running —if there is any—)
    • Execution (How to run the game, and all notes relevant to playing phase)
    • Notes (Any extra info you need to add.)
    • Rating (Rate how well is the game working under the emulator: Perfect/Good/Playable/Poor/Not Working)
    • A JPEG screenshot of the game, running under emulator. If the image is wide, make sure to resize it using DokuWiki's resize syntax to a reasonable width (200 pixels seems just fine). If it's an eroge, it's better if you avoid hardcore scenes. Title screens will do better. Name the image file as <name of the game>_<name of the emulator>_screenshot.jpg In case you're adding another entry for an existing emulator (for a different version of emulator, maybe), prefix the filename with a number like “_1”.

For examples, see sources of existing pages below.
