AGTHC

AGTHC (AGTH 1) Companion) is a unified frontend for various Japanese translators, transliterators, dictionaries and part-of-speech taggers. Since AGTH has no problems running under GNU/Linux with Wine, this script can be considered as a free alternative to ATLAS. You don't really need AGTH to use this program, it's just AGTHC can work together with it.

You can grab the latest release here.

Bugs

  • Albeit the program runs swiftly under GNU/Linux, it is known to hang under Windows. This is probably a bug related to thread PyQt4's thread handling under Windows. Well, who cares :-P
1)
AGTH is a freeware program. It is hoped that AGTH will be replaced with a free tool someday.
2)
POST + EDICT look-up
3)
You can use 2to3 if you need to run it under Python 3
