Albeit all Gecko programs suffer from this, there are add-ons that remedy the situation for Firefox. [[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1935|XHTML Ruby Support]] is a CPU monster, so I'd suggest using [[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6812|HTML Ruby]] (latter doesn't support selecting the ruby text though, which means you cannot copy furigana text with that one.)
